Intrinsically safe
The BEKOMAT Ex fulfils the requirements of type of protection "intrinsically safe". This means that the energy created by its entire electronic system is at no time capable of igniting gases and vapours of explosion group II 2G EEx ib IIB T4. Under certain circumstances, however, explosive gases or vapours can escape from the BEKOMAT Ex via the condensate. The operator of a system in a hazardous area is to ensure that the system is installed in such a way that ignition of a potentially explosive atmosphere cannot occur.

how can you prevent condensate damage to your compressed air system whilst saving energy and adapted to the amount of condensate without loss of compressed air These are the proven strength of a bekomat but exactly how does it work Adapted to the amount of condensate and without compressed air loss Condensate flows in via the feed line whilst air pressure from the vent pipe keeps the membrane closed from above a capacitive sensor constantly monitors the condensate. When the condensate reaches a preset level the control unit immediately initiates the draining of the condensate. Once again as the condensate flows in the membrane remains closed due to system pressure it's larger upper surface provides the necessary closing force on the valve seat and seals it tightly when the bekomat is full the solenoid valve is activated and the space above the membrane is vented. Simultaneously the pressure on the underside increases allowing the condensate to flow into the outlet line. in actual operation the solenoid valve switches so quickly that no valuable compressed air escapes. Proper use

If a float arrester leaks, high costs arise as a result of leaks. Time-controlled solenoid valves also cause compressed air losses. During the valve opening expensive compressed air escapes unused into the environment. In contrast, a condensate drain with electronic level control guarantees draining without compressed air, is energy loss. This not only saves energy and costs, but also CO 2 emissions. Further safety advice:
• For installation and operation, the national regulations and safety codes in force must also be adhered to.
• Do not use the BEKOMAT 16 in hazardous areas.
• Regarding the inlet screw joints, excessive tightening forces must be avoided. This applies in particular to conical screw joints.
• The BEKOMAT 16 will only function when voltage is applied.
• Do not use the test button for permanent drainage!
• Only use genuine spare parts! This is imperative to ensure perfect functioning.
Function Of BEKOMAT® 16 CO
The condensate flows through the feed line (1) into the BEKOMAT® unit and accumulates in the container (2). A capacitive sensor (3) continuously registers the liquid level and passes a signal to the electronic control as soon as the container is filled. The pilot valve (4) is then activated and the diaphragm (5) opens the outlet line (6) for discharging the condensate. When the BEKOMAT® unit has been emptied, the outlet line is closed again quickly and tightly without wasting compressed air.

Manual drainage / alarm
When the microcontroller registers a malfunction, the device will automatically change to the alarm mode. The switching sequence of the valve (see illustration) continues until the fault is cleared (automatically or through maintenance). The red LED flashes as long as the device is in the alarm mode.
Malfunctioning could be caused by, e.g.:
• Mistakes during installation
• Dropping below the necessary minimum pressure
• Excessive condensate quantities (overloading)
• Blocked / shut off outlet line
• Extreme amount of dirt particles
• Frozen piping If the fault is not cleared within the first minute, a fault signal is triggered (see illustration) which can be picked off as a potential-free signal via the alarm relay.

A service indicator informs punctually about the upcoming maintenance and/or exchange for the service unit. All parts which are subject to wear or are pressurised can be reached with one manual movement. Neither electrical installations nor the installation of seals and individual parts are necessary. The installation concept is also particularly user-friendly and time-saving: The device only has to be connected once electrically. The robust housing is also waterproof according to IP67. • BEKOMAT 32U is not suitable for use in plants carrying vacuum or atmospheric ambient pressure or in ex-areas.
• The BEKOMAT 32U must not be exposed to permanent direct solar or thermal radiation.
• The BEKOMAT 32U must not be installed and operated in areas with an aggressive atmosphere.
• The BEKOMAT 32U is not heatable and, therefore, not suitable for the use in areas where frost is likely to occur.
• The BEKOMAT 32U is not suitable for CO2 plants.

Function of BEKOMAT® 6 CO EX
Empty condition:
Condensate flows through the inlet opening and collects in the container. The diaphragm valve remains closed due to pressure equalisation above the membrane.
Filled condition:
When the container is filled, the capacitive level sensor signals maximum level. The solenoid valve switches, relieving pressure above the diaphragm. The valve opens and condensate is discharged without compressed air loss. In case of malfunction, an alarm mode is triggered.

For applications in large compressors
The complete housing of this BEKOMAT® 8 condensate drain is made of cast stainless steel and is therefore designed for use in aggressive atmospheres, as well as for the discharge of condensates from special gas compression. They are mainly utilised in petroleum plants and refineries, in the petrochemical industry and in crude or mineral oil plants. These are the largest electronically level-controlled condensate drain systems available on the market and have been specially designed and built for these requirements.
