how can you prevent condensate damage to your compressed air system whilst saving energy and adapted to the amount of condensate without loss of compressed air These are the proven strength of a bekomat but exactly how does it work Adapted to the amount of condensate and without compressed air loss Condensate flows in via the feed line whilst air pressure from the vent pipe keeps the membrane closed from above a capacitive sensor constantly monitors the condensate. When the condensate reaches a preset level the control unit immediately initiates the draining of the condensate. Once again as the condensate flows in the membrane remains closed due to system pressure it's larger upper surface provides the necessary closing force on the valve seat and seals it tightly when the bekomat is full the solenoid valve is activated and the space above the membrane is vented. Simultaneously the pressure on the underside increases allowing the condensate to flow into the outlet line. in actual operation the solenoid valve switches so quickly that no valuable compressed air escapes. The bekomat® drains the condensate into the owamat Oil water separator mounted downstream adapted to the amount of condensate and without compressed air loss.

The standard design is made in corrosion-resistant aluminium, which makes the BEKOMAT® particularly reliable and robust. A silver-coloured coating protects the outside of the housing. The BEKOMAT® CO models are predestined for operating with oil-free or aggressive condensates. Their housing is additionally, completely glass bead blasted and protected by a high-quality hard coating.
Measures:
• Do not exceed the maximum operating pressure (see type plate)!
• Only carry out service measures when the system is pressure less.
• Use pressure-resistant installation material only.
• The feed pipe must be tubed firmly. Discharge pipe: short, fixed pressure hose onto pressure-resistant pipe.

Unnecessary costs and damage in the compressed air generation can only be efficiently prevented with volume-controlled condensate discharge. For this reason, BEKOMAT condensate drain therefore functions with a capacitive sensor. The intelligent electronics prevent compressed air losses and minimise energy consumption. Due to this the electronically regulated condensate discharge, the drain often amortises itself within half a year compared to devices with time-controlled drain valves.
Proper use
• The BEKOMAT® is an electronically level-controlled condensate drain for compressed-air plants.
• It is employed within the permissible operating parameters (see "Technical data").
• The BEKOMAT® is able to drain condensate under operating pressure from the plant components virtually without compressed-air losses.
• For its function, the BEKOMAT® 14 requires an operating voltage and an operating pressure (see "Technical data").
• As far as the employment in plants with increased demands on the compressed-air quality is concerned (food industry, medical technology, laboratory equipment, special processes etc.), the operator must decide on measures for the monitoring of the compressed-air quality. These have an effect on the safety of the subsequent processes and may prevent damage to persons and plants.
• It is the task of the operator to ensure that the indicated conditions are met during the entire operating time.
• For the employment in CO2 plants, a BEKOMAT® with a CO specification (BEKOMAT® ... CO) must be used.
• The BEKOMAT® and the condensate supply line need to be protected against frost, as otherwise the function cannot be guaranteed. BEKO TECHNOLOGIES GMBH also offers suitable products for this purpose.

Condensate drainage without loss of compressed air
If a float arrester leaks, high costs arise as a result of leaks. Time-controlled solenoid valves also cause compressed air losses. During the valve opening expensive compressed air escapes unused into the environment. In contrast, a condensate drain with electronic level control guarantees draining without compressed air, ie energy loss. This not only saves energy and costs, but also CO 2 emissions. This is a fantastic condensate drainage without loss of compressed air.
Further safety advice:
• For installation and operation, the national regulations and safety codes in force must also be adhered to.
• Do not use the BEKOMAT® 16 in hazardous areas.
• Regarding the inlet screw joints, excessive tightening forces must be avoided. This applies in particular to conical screw joints.
• The BEKOMAT® 16 will only function when voltage is applied.
• Do not use the test button for permanent drainage!
• Only use genuine spare parts! This is imperative to ensure perfect functioning.
Function Of BEKOMAT® 16 CO
The condensate flows through the feed line (1) into the BEKOMAT® unit and accumulates in the container (2). A capacitive sensor (3) continuously registers the liquid level and passes a signal to the electronic control as soon as the container is filled. The pilot valve (4) is then activated and the diaphragm (5) opens the outlet line (6) for discharging the condensate. When the BEKOMAT® unit has been emptied, the outlet line is closed again quickly and tightly without wasting compressed air.

Manual drainage / alarm
When the microcontroller registers a malfunction, the device will automatically change to the alarm mode. The switching sequence of the valve (see illustration) continues until the fault is cleared (automatically or through maintenance). The red LED flashes as long as the device is in the alarm mode.
Malfunctioning could be caused by, e.g.:
• Mistakes during installation
• Dropping below the necessary minimum pressure
• Excessive condensate quantities (overloading)
• Blocked / shut off outlet line
• Extreme amount of dirt particles
• Frozen piping If the fault is not cleared within the first minute, a fault signal is triggered (see illustration) which can be picked off as a potential-free signal via the alarm relay.

Intrinsically safe
The BEKOMAT Ex fulfils the requirements of type of protection "intrinsically safe". This means that the energy created by its entire electronic system is at no time capable of igniting gases and vapours of explosion group II 2G EEx ib IIB T4. Under certain circumstances, however, explosive gases or vapours can escape from the BEKOMAT Ex via the condensate. The operator of a system in a hazardous area is to ensure that the system is installed in such a way that ignition of a potentially explosive atmosphere cannot occur.

A service indicator informs punctually about the upcoming maintenance and/or exchange for the service unit. All parts which are subject to wear or are pressurised can be reached with one manual movement. Neither electrical installations nor the installation of seals and individual parts are necessary. The installation concept is also particularly user-friendly and time-saving: The device only has to be connected once electrically. The robust housing is also waterproof according to IP67. BEKOMAT® 31U | 32U facilitates the connection to the compressed air system with an angle adaptor.
If the service unit of the BEKOMAT® 33U is disconnected from the power supply and condensate receiver tank, then the supply tank always remains connected to the compressed air system. This saves time and effort during maintenance.

Condensate drainage without loss of compressed air
If a float arrester leaks, high costs arise as a result of leaks. Time-controlled solenoid valves also cause compressed air losses. During the valve opening expensive compressed air escapes unused into the environment. In contrast, a condensate drain with electronic level control guarantees draining without compressed air, ie energy loss. This not only saves energy and costs, but also CO 2 emissions.This is a fantastic condansate drainage without loss of compressed air.
Function Of BEKOMAT® 6 CO EX
Empty state:
Condensate drips through the inlet opening 1- and collects in the container 2- The diaphragm valve 5- is closed because the pressure equalization across the valve diaphragm via the pilot line 3- and the solenoid valve 4- 5- takes place. The larger area above the membrane causes a high closing force. The valve seat remains closed without leaks.
Filled state:
If the container 2- is filled with condensate so that the capacitive level sensor 6- reports a signal at the maximum point, the solenoid valve is switched and the area above the valve membrane is vented. The valve membrane lifts off the valve seat 7-, the overpressure in the housing pushes the condensate into the outlet line 8- The valve is closed leak-free before the compressed air escapes. If the condensate drain is disturbed (blocked drain line, defective membrane), the alarm mode is triggered after 60 seconds. The LED flashes, a fault message can be picked up as a potential-free signal via the alarm relay. With Ex devices this is possible via a built-in optocoupler and a switching amplifier. In this state, the solenoid valve is opened for 7.5 seconds every 4 minutes. A BEKOMAT® filled in a pressureless state is automatically alarm-free again under pressure. The drained condensate is now sent to the ÖWAMAT® oil-water separator for disperse condensate for treatment. In the case of stable emulsions, we recommend the BEKOSPLIT® splitting system for almost waste-free processing. Both systems offer legally compliant process technology for treating your compressed air condensate.

The complete housing of this BEKOMAT® condensate drain is made of cast stainless steel and is therefore designed for use in aggressive atmospheres, as well as for the discharge of condensates from special gas compression. They are mainly utilised in petroleum plants and refineries, in the petrochemical industry and in crude or mineral oil plants. These are the largest electronically level-controlled condensate drain systems available on the market and have been specially designed and built for these requirements.
