Unnecessary costs and damage in the compressed air generation can only be efficiently prevented with volume-controlled condensate discharge. For this reason, BEKOMAT condensate drain therefore functions with a capacitive sensor. The intelligent electronics prevent compressed air losses and minimise energy consumption. Due to this the electronically regulated condensate discharge, the drain often amortises itself within half a year compared to devices with time-controlled drain valves.
Proper use
• The BEKOMAT® is an electronically level-controlled condensate drain for compressed-air plants.

If a float arrester leaks, high costs arise as a result of leaks. Time-controlled solenoid valves also cause compressed air losses. During the valve opening expensive compressed air escapes unused into the environment. In contrast, a condensate drain with electronic level control guarantees draining without compressed air, ie energy loss. This not only saves energy and costs, but also CO 2 emissions. • For installation and operation, the national regulations and safety codes in force must also be adhered to.
• Do not use the BEKOMAT® 16 in hazardous areas.
• Regarding the inlet screw joints, excessive tightening forces must be avoided. This applies in particular to conical screw joints.
• The BEKOMAT® 16 will only function when voltage is applied.
• Do not use the test button for permanent drainage!
• Only use genuine spare parts! This is imperative to ensure perfect functioning.
Function Of BEKOMAT® 16 CO
The condensate flows through the feed line (1) into the BEKOMAT® unit and accumulates in the container (2). A capacitive sensor (3) continuously registers the liquid level and passes a signal to the electronic control as soon as the container is filled. The pilot valve (4) is then activated and the diaphragm (5) opens the outlet line (6) for discharging the condensate. When the BEKOMAT® unit has been emptied, the outlet line is closed again quickly and tightly without wasting compressed air.

Manual drainage / alarm
When the microcontroller registers a malfunction, the device will automatically change to the alarm mode. The switching sequence of the valve (see illustration) continues until the fault is cleared (automatically or through maintenance). The red LED flashes as long as the device is in the alarm mode.
Malfunctioning could be caused by, e.g.:
• Mistakes during installation
• Dropping below the necessary minimum pressure
• Excessive condensate quantities (overloading)
• Blocked / shut off outlet line
• Extreme amount of dirt particles
• Frozen piping If the fault is not cleared within the first minute, a fault signal is triggered (see illustration) which can be picked off as a potential-free signal via the alarm relay.

Intrinsically safe
The BEKOMAT Ex fulfils the requirements of type of protection "intrinsically safe". This means that the energy created by its entire electronic system is at no time capable of igniting gases and vapours of explosion group II 2G EEx ib IIB T4. All parts which are subject to wear or are pressurised can be reached with one manual movement. Neither electrical installations nor the installation of seals and individual parts are necessary. The installation concept is also particularly user-friendly and time-saving: The device only has to be connected once electrically. The robust housing is also waterproof according to IP67. The BEKOMAT 31U, BEKOMAT 32U, and BEKOMAT 33U are all condensate drain units designed to remove condensate from compressed air systems.
The main differences between BEKOMAT 31U, BEKOMAT 32U, and BEKOMAT 33U lie in their capacity, features, and functionality. BEKOMAT 31U: - The BEKOMAT 31U is a compact condensate drain unit suitable for smaller compressed air systems. - It has a lower condensate removal capacity compared to the BEKOMAT 32U and BEKOMAT 33U. - The BEKOMAT 31U is designed for applications where a lower condensate flow rate is expected. Yes, in some cases, you can use BEKOMAT 33u instead of BEKOMAT 31u or BEKOMAT 32u and vice versa, but it should be noted that these substitutions may depend on the following factors: Drain capacity: BEKOMAT 33u has a higher drain capacity compared to BEKOMAT 31u and BEKOMAT 32u. Therefore, if your compressed air system produces a large volume of condensate, using BEKOMAT 33u may be more suitable. System size: Choosing the appropriate model should be based on the size of your compressed air system. If your system is small, BEKOMAT 31u may be sufficient. However, if the system is larger, BEKOMAT 33u could be the best option. Features and settings: BEKOMAT 31u, BEKOMAT 32u, and BEKOMAT 33u have different features and settings. Condensate drainage without loss of compressed air
If a float arrester leaks, high costs arise as a result of leaks. Time-controlled solenoid valves also cause compressed air losses. During the valve opening expensive compressed air escapes unused into the environment. In contrast, a condensate drain with electronic level control guarantees draining without compressed air, ie energy loss. This not only saves energy and costs, but also CO 2 emissions.This is a fantastic condansate drainage without loss of compressed air.
Function Of BEKOMAT® 6 CO EX
Empty state:
Condensate drips through the inlet opening 1- and collects in the container 2- The diaphragm valve 5- is closed because the pressure equalization across the valve diaphragm via the pilot line 3- and the solenoid valve 4- 5- takes place. The larger area above the membrane causes a high closing force. The valve seat remains closed without leaks.
Filled state:
If the container 2- is filled with condensate so that the capacitive level sensor 6- reports a signal at the maximum point, the solenoid valve is switched and the area above the valve membrane is vented. The valve membrane lifts off the valve seat 7-, the overpressure in the housing pushes the condensate into the outlet line 8- The valve is closed leak-free before the compressed air escapes. If the condensate drain is disturbed (blocked drain line, defective membrane), the alarm mode is triggered after 60 seconds. The LED flashes, a fault message can be picked up as a potential-free signal via the alarm relay. With Ex devices this is possible via a built-in optocoupler and a switching amplifier. In this state, the solenoid valve is opened for 7.5 seconds every 4 minutes. A BEKOMAT® filled in a pressureless state is automatically alarm-free again under pressure. The drained condensate is now sent to the ÖWAMAT® oil-water separator for disperse condensate for treatment. In the case of stable emulsions, we recommend the BEKOSPLIT® splitting system for almost waste-free processing. Both systems offer legally compliant process technology for treating your compressed air condensate.

The complete housing of this BEKOMAT® condensate drain is made of cast stainless steel and is therefore designed for use in aggressive atmospheres, as well as for the discharge of condensates from special gas compression. They are mainly utilised in petroleum plants and refineries, in the petrochemical industry and in crude or mineral oil plants. These are the largest electronically level-controlled condensate drain systems available on the market and have been specially designed and built for these requirements.
