Adsorption Dryer DRYBERG® AD150 Adsorption Dryer DRYBERG® DESCRIPTION AD adsorption dryers are designed for the continuous separation of water vapor from the compressed air to reduce the pressure dew point. The AD-Series dryer consists of two columns filled with treble beds, control with LCD display, valves, gauges, support structure and suitable filter housings with the required filter element. The adsorption is carried out under pressure in the first column, while the second column is regenerated with a portion of already dried compressed air at ambient pressure. When the first column is saturated to some degree, column switching is performed and the adsorption process continues in the second column without pressure drop at the outlet of the dryer. The regeneration of saturated desiccant is possible because a small portion of the already dry compressed air is decompressed and becomes extremely dry during expansion.
Adsorption Dryer DRYBERG® AD210 Adsorption Dryer DRYBERG® Switch-over Once the regeneration process is done the pressure build up in the vessel is started by closing the purge valves. After reaching the operating pressure the air flow is changed from the adsorbing vesel to the freshly regenerated vessel. Adsorption now commences in the freshly regenerated vessel, while the other vessel enters its regeneration cycle.

Adsorption Dryer DRYBERG® AD600 Drying with the latest system technology Proven process technology, paired with state-of-the-art control technology, stands for the three variable basic concepts that function optimally in every climatic zone worldwide. Higher volume flows can also be realized on customer request. In the universal DRYBERG® ADP, which can be used worldwide, desorption in countercurrent to the adsorption direction with heated forced air and cooling takes place via a relaxed partial flow from the stream of dried compressed air.
Adsorption Dryer DRYBERG® AD820 What does a desiccant dryer do? Regenerative adsorption type dryers use a porous desiccant that absorbs moisture by collecting it in its numerous pores and allows large amounts of water to be retained by a relatively small amount of desiccant. Dryers include silica gel, activated alumina, and molecular sieves.

How Does a desiccant air dryers for compressed air Work?
The desiccant air dryer function is based on the principle of adsorption and regeneration without external heat. Two columns filled with desiccant work alternately. While the first column adsorbs moisture from the compressed air, the second column regenerates the saturated desiccant. This is done using expanded compressed air: a portion of the already dried compressed air is expanded, making it extremely dry and suitable for regenerating the desiccant. This process ensures continuous operation without pressure drop at the outlet.
What Makes BERG Compressed Air Adsorption Dryers Special?
Our BERG adsorption dryers for compressed air like the DRYBERG® AD and AD-CT stand out with their compact design and flexibility. They are suitable for various flow rates from 30 Nm³/h to 3000 Nm³/h. The available models are plug-and-play systems that allow for easy installation and maintenance. The DRYBERG® AD-CT additionally features an activated carbon tower, removing oil particles and providing oil-free compressed air according to class 1.2.0 of ISO8573-1. Equipped with pre and post filters and an oil test indicator, our dryers offer maximum air purity. We are happy to advise you on the right adsorption dryer for your application.
For Which Applications and Industries are BERG Compressed Air Adsorption Dryers Suitable?
Our compressed air adsorption dryers are ideal for workshops, small to medium-sized businesses, and general industrial applications where dry compressed air is needed but conditions are less extreme. They are also excellent for temporary installations such as construction sites or temporary production facilities. Industries such as the food industry or healthcare benefit particularly from the oil-free compressed air provided by the DRYBERG® AD-CT.
For more extreme conditions or greater demand, we are happy to recommend a heat-regenerating adsorption dryer.
For lower requirements or a smaller budget, compressed air refrigeration dryers are often suitable.
Advantages of Using desiccant air dryer system
- Compact design for easy installation and maintenance
- Flexibility through adaptation to different flow rates
- Lower acquisition costs due to simpler design
- Oil-free compressed air with the DRYBERG® AD-CT for maximum air purity
- Continuous operation without pressure drop at the outlet
Heated Regenerative Desiccant Air Dryer vs. Desiccant dry air
What Distinguishes a Compressed Air Adsorption Dryer (Cold Adsorption Dryer) from a Heat-Regenerating Adsorption Dryer?
The main difference between a cold adsorption dryer and a heat-regenerating adsorption dryer lies in the desiccant regeneration method. While the cold adsorption dryer regenerates without external heat, the heat-regenerating adsorption dryer uses external heat sources like heaters and blowers. This affects both energy efficiency and compressed air consumption. Cold adsorption dryers are more compact and have lower initial costs, while heat-regenerating dryers are more efficient for high flow rates.
Regenerative desiccant dryer vs. Refrigerated Air Dryer
What is the Difference to a Compressed Air Refrigeration Dryer?
In addition to the AD and ADP series, BERG also offers a more affordable and energy-efficient alternative with compressed air refrigeration dryers. These are ideal for cost-effective drying solutions with lower demands. They are suitable for many standard applications where increased drying requirements are not necessary.
The technical difference between compressed air refrigeration dryers and compressed air adsorption dryers is that refrigeration dryers dehumidify compressed air by cooling and are the most energy-efficient method of compressed air drying, achieving a pressure dew point of up to +3°C, while adsorption dryers remove moisture through chemical binding to a desiccant, achieving extremely low pressure dew points of up to -70°C.

Technical Data of the Adsorption Dryer DRYBERG® AD 150 - 3000
The cold adsorption dryer in the AD150-3000 series consists of two columns filled with desiccant beds, a controller with an LCD display, valves, pressure gauges, a support structure, and suitable filter housings with the necessary filter element. Adsorption takes place under pressure in the first column, while the second column regenerates with a portion of the already dried compressed air at ambient pressure. When the first column reaches a certain saturation level, the columns switch, and the adsorption process continues in the second column without a pressure drop at the dryer outlet. Regeneration of the saturated desiccant is possible because a small portion of the already dry compressed air is decompressed and becomes extremely dry upon expansion.
